Svalbard at the sun festival

Welcome to Spitsbergen! We will pick you up at the airport and bring you to your accommodation in Longyearbyen. If arriving before 15:30, we will go on a city tour in Longyearbyen the same afternoon and get to know the northernmost small town in the world and its surroundings.

The area around Longyearbyen offers a variety of fantastic routes and peaks for snow hikes to suit all abilities. Depending on the group and your wishes, we will explore the wide valleys around Longyearbyen, look out for reindeer and foxes or, depending on the route, walk over a glacier and enjoy the winter wonder land around us. We will have lunch in the countryside with a wonderful view before setting off on our return journey.

Today marks a very special occasion: Solfest – an emotional highlight in the Arctic calendar. Although the days have already been getting lighter, this is the moment when the sun finally reaches the valley floor of Longyearbyen again. Locals gather to celebrate this moment with songs, hot cocoa, and shining eyes as the first ray of sunlight touches the old hospital – a symbol of light, hope, and new beginnings.

Enjoy a free day to relax, stroll through Longyearbyen, browse souvenir shops, or unwind with a cozy cup of coffee. For those looking for a bit more action, we also offer optional activities to join. We’re happy to advise you on the options available!

Today you will head out into the vast, white wilderness with your own dog team. You will spend the whole day out in nature, learn a lot about the everyday life of dogs and help prepare and harness the dogs. The sledges and dog teams are navigated in teams of two. At our lunch break, we enjoy the landscape around us and one or two dogs are sure to be happy to be stroked.

After lunch in the great outdoors, we head back. An almost silent glide through the Arctic; the grinding of the runners in the snow and the occasional joyful barking of the dogs make this experience unique. You will be back in Longyearbyen in the late afternoon.

This tour is operated by a local partner.

We will be equipped with arctic thermal suits, boots, gloves and all other necessary equipment and after a detailed introduction into the handling of the snowmobile we will start our tour. Depending on snow and weather conditions we will drive far out into nature through wide valleys, over mountain passes and glaciers. After lunch and a hot drink in the nature we will come back to Longyearbyen.

After a hearty breakfast, it’s time to gear up in warm, Arctic-ready clothing – adventure awaits! Today, we set off on a full-day journey through the magical winter landscape of Svalbard. We’ll travel past majestic mountains, across vast glaciers, and through endless valleys as we explore the stunning terrain of Svalbard’s west coast.

If snow and ice conditions allow, we’ll make a stop at one of the hidden ice caves – stepping into a glittering world of frozen light, mesmerizing formations, and glowing colours that feel like something from another planet.

To recharge, we’ll enjoy a warm lunch out in the Arctic wilderness before returning to Longyearbyen in the evening – cheeks glowing, minds full of impressions, and hearts a little fuller than before.

Early in the morning we set off. We set out to explore the east coast of Spitsbergen. This full day tour takes us once again far away from civilization... Through wide valleys, over mountain passes and glaciers we reach the east coast. We spend a whole day on the wild and cold side of Spitsbergen. If the ice situation allows it, we go far out on the frozen ocean and enjoy the rough nature. Seals, maybe bears, later in the season the first returning birds and otherwise far and wide no sign of human civilization. Only in the evening we return to Longyearbyen.

Farewell day. After an extensive breakfast, there will be some free time (depending on your flight schedule) in town. Then it is time to say goodbye. Our private airport transfer will take you to your scheduled flight and on your way back home.
