Camping

1. March – 15. September

Spending the night out in the open is the most intense way to experience Svalbard — far from hotels and fixed accommodation, in the heart of the Arctic silence. With us, you have two options: light and mobile with small tunnel tents, or sheltered and comfortable in our own camp.

With the tunnel tents, we stay mobile and flexible — quick to set up, windproof, and always wherever the route happens to take us. It's camping in its most original form: pared down to the essentials, right up close to nature, and with the freedom to sleep in a different spot each day. Pure wilderness, as you'll rarely experience it otherwise.

Our camp, on the other hand, combines adventure with real comfort. In winter, we head out by snowmobile to the EC Camp on the remote east coast: spacious sleeping tents with field beds and standing height, warm, expedition-grade sleeping bags complete with a hot-water bottle, and a heated group tent where warm meals and cosy hours await you — in the middle of the ice and far from any civilization. Comfort, without the wilderness ever losing any of its authenticity.

In summer, we use our large group tent to set up a base camp at changing locations under the midnight sun. From here we explore the surroundings, fully in the rhythm of the Arctic summer, where the sun never sets and the day seems never to end.

The wonderful thing about camping is that it combines with almost all of our activities, becoming a natural part of a larger adventure. In summer, it's an ideal complement to hikes and multi-day treks — on foot during the day, the tent pitched in the heart of the wilderness in the evening. In winter and spring, sleeping outdoors pairs beautifully with ski tours, cross-country skiing on fjellski, or snowmobile tours, on which we cover greater distances and reach remote regions. Snowkiting, too, combines wonderfully with an overnight stay at the camp. This way, camping never becomes merely a place to sleep, but the connecting element that ties the days outdoors together into one continuous Arctic experience.

Whether mobile in a tunnel tent or sheltered in the camp, this is how you experience the Arctic as raw and up close as only a few ever will: out in the wide landscape, carried by the silence, and fully in tune with nature.

Equipment

So you can focus entirely on the experience, we provide the most important specialist equipment. For the tours, you'll receive suitable expedition clothing where needed – thermal suit, boots, and gloves – as well as the necessary safety equipment carried by your guide. The camp itself is fully equipped too: sleeping tents with field beds, the heated group tent, and all the on-site infrastructure are included.

In winter, we also provide a high-quality sleeping bag with a liner and a hot water bottle, so you sleep cosy and warm even at temperatures well below zero.

In summer, you bring your own sleeping bag. That way you travel with your familiar sleeping setup – just make sure it's a model suited to cool Arctic nights.

You should also bring your personal clothing (warm functional layers, hat, gloves), sturdy hiking boots, personal toiletries, and small items such as a camera, sunglasses, and any medication you need.
