Hike to Sarkofagen and fossile hunt

June - November

Up to 500 metres of the characteristic Sarkofagen.

The tour takes us across a moraine landscape up to the Lars Glacier. We then walk along the edge of the glacier to a smaller plateau before reaching the summit of the massive sarcophagus-shaped mountain. On our tour we are sure to come across the impressive fossils of prehistoric primeval forest plants. After a break with coffee and biscuits, we then make our way back to Longyearbyen via the Longyear Glacier.

On this half-day tour you will be accompanied by a German-speaking guide with all the necessary safety equipment. We can respond to your wishes and flexibly adapt the tour to the weather conditions and the needs of the group.

No special previous knowledge is needed but a medium level of fitness is required to participate in this tour.
