1000 kilometers through Spitsbergen

Welcome to Svalbard! We will pick you up at the airport and take you to your accommodation in Longyearbyen. If you arrive before 3:30 PM, we will go on a city tour of Longyearbyen that same afternoon. By minibus, we drive through the town, making several stops at interesting sights such as the polar bear warning sign and the Global Seed Vault, while sharing insights about life in Longyearbyen.

The tour also includes a visit to the Svalbard Museum. During a guided visit, we delve deeper into the history, nature, and wildlife of Spitsbergen and gain fascinating insights into polar research and everyday life on Svalbard.

This tour provides a compact and informative overview of Longyearbyen – ideal for getting to know the Arctic better.

We will be equipped with arctic thermal suits, boots, gloves and all other necessary equipment and after a detailed introduction into the handling of the snowmobile we will start our tour. Depending on snow and weather conditions we will drive far out into nature through wide valleys, over mountain passes and glaciers. A perfect opportunity to get familiar with the snowmobile and the equipment and to get a first impression of the majestic landscape of Spitsbergen.

After lunch and a hot drink in the nature we will come back to Longyearbyen.

With all the gear needed for a multi-day tour, we head out. Crossing wide valleys, mountain passes, and glaciers, we make our way to the east coast. We spend an entire day immersed in the wild and cold nature of Svalbard. If the ice conditions allow, we venture far out onto the frozen ocean and enjoy the rugged beauty of the landscape. We may have the chance to see glacier fronts and icebergs.

In the late afternoon, we arrive at our comfortable camp on the east coast, where a warm group tent awaits us already. Our camp guard greets us warmly and shows us how everything in the camp works. We settle into our tents, which are equipped with field beds and plenty of space to stand comfortably. Together, we enjoy the icy world around us, far removed from the rest of the world, and gather for dinner in the heated group tent. In the evening, we organize the night-time polar bear watch, in which all guests participate.

We will spend the next day on the east coast of Svalbard, enjoying the remoteness and beauty of the icy world around us. Since our camp is already located on the east coast, we don’t need to spend a few hours driving to explore this area like on other tours. We are already there, ready to begin our adventure. Depending on the ice conditions, we spend the days either on the frozen ocean visiting glacier fronts, or traveling over the ice cap and through the mountain peaks, exploring the remote east of the island. Seals, perhaps bears in the distance, and the first returning birds - otherwise, there are no signs of human civilization as far as the eye can see. In the late afternoon, we return to our camp each day, which gradually becomes our home.

Today, we will take the entire day to slowly make our way back to Longyearbyen with some detours. Depending on the weather and ice conditions, we may head to Tempelfjord or take another detour south. In the afternoon, we will reach the town, where the impressions of our camp on the east coast will linger with us as we enjoy the luxury of the town.

We tie up our equipment and all luggage for the multi-day tour on the snowmobiles and off we go. We are on track the whole day and get to know the breathtaking nature and impressive vastness of Svalbard west. The pointed mountains of the west coast, which give the archipelago its name, are just as impressive as the huge glaciers that wind down from them. Lunch will be served in the nature. Then we continue until we reach the sea. Here, situated on the west coast, lies the wilderness hotel "Isfjord Radio".

We enjoy a wonderful dinner in great surroundings and spend the night in one of the most comfortable hotels you can imagine in the wild nature of Svalbard.

After a leisurely breakfast in the former radio station, we head out once again into the vast wilderness. We spend the entire day in the scenically stunning region of the west coast – one of the most beautiful and varied areas in Svalbard.

Our route leads us high up into the mountains, across mighty glaciers and lonely mountain passes, past rugged peaks and wide, snow-covered plains, until the next fjord finally points the way ahead. Along the way there is always time to pause, enjoy the magnificent views and let the deep silence of the Arctic wilderness sink in.

We enjoy lunch out in the middle of nature, surrounded by a landscape that can only be found this far north. Refreshed, we continue our journey and gather more unforgettable impressions.

In the early evening, it is time to slowly make our way back to Longyearbyen – carrying with us the memories of an eventful day in the wide wilderness of the west coast.

Farewell day. Depending on the flight schedule there will be some free time in town. Then it is time to say goodbye. Our private airport transfer will take you to your scheduled flight and on your way back home.
