Dive into Polar-Expedition

Welcome to Svalbard! We will pick you up at the airport and take you to your accommodation in Longyearbyen. If you arrive before 3:30 PM, we will go on a city tour of Longyearbyen that same afternoon. By minibus, we drive through the town, making several stops at interesting sights such as the polar bear warning sign and the Global Seed Vault, while sharing insights about life in Longyearbyen.

The tour also includes a visit to the Svalbard Museum. During a guided visit, we delve deeper into the history, nature, and wildlife of Spitsbergen and gain fascinating insights into polar research and everyday life on Svalbard.

This tour provides a compact and informative overview of Longyearbyen – ideal for getting to know the Arctic better.

We spend the day in Longyearbyen, try out equipment and have a last chance to get missing gear. We will pack our pulkas and go through all the basic knowledge that you’ll need for the upcoming expedition:

• Normal expedition day routines

• Polar bear safety

• How to stay warm & safe

• Clothing

• Tents & tentteams

• Fuel stoves & CO-poisoning

• Basic introduction to knots

• Weather & avalanche risk

The next days we will be on expedition. Every day we will hike on our skis through the incredible nature of Svalbard, pulling behind us on our pulka all the equipment we need for a week in the snow. The camps are set up every evening and taken down again every morning. We establish and learn about "walking routines", "camp routines", cook and eat together and divide up the night watch each evening (very guest participates in the bear watch).

On the track we deal with navigation, glacier science and avalanche safety. We learn how to build an emergency shelter in the snow and how to protect the tents from wind and weather. An exciting week full of intense nature impressions and full of personal learning experiences!

Today we pack up our tents one last time and tackle the final kilometres back to civilisation. Slowly we begin to recognise the first signs of Longyearbyen's settlement. By car we are picked up at the edge of the road network and brought back to Longyearbyen.

Take a day off to unwind, wander around the city, buy some souvenirs, or have a relaxed coffee. If you want more action, there are additional activities available for booking. We're happy to advise you about the best possibilities and offers.

Farewell day. Depending on the flight schedule there will be some free time in town. Then it is time to say goodbye. Our private airport transfer will take you to your scheduled flight and on your way back home.
