Svalbard - Experience the Polar Night

<p>Welcome to Svalbard. We pick you up at the airport in Longyearbyen, bring you to your accommodation and get to know the diversity of the northernmost settlement in the world on a full guided city tour. Feel the special atmosphere of the place, discover the treasures of the museum and art gallery. Take a deep breath of the clear arctic air and let the peace and coziness of the everlasting darkness take effect on you!</p><p>Overnight stay in Longyearbyen</p>

<p>Today's program will be a snowshoe hike to a glacier near Longyearbyen. Our guide will decide on the day, depending on snow conditions and weather, which route is best. Once on the summit, we have a hot drink and a small lunch while enjoying the view of Longyearbyen and the landscape around us, shining in the darkness. Then we slowly start our way back to Longyearbyen.</p><p>Overnight stay in Longyearbyen</p>

<p>Today you will go with your own dog team into the vast, white wilderness (snow conditions permitting). You'll spend the whole day out in nature, learn a lot about the daily life of dogs and mushers, and get to help prepare and harness the dogs. In teams of two the dog teams will be navigated. After lunch in the nature we go back. An almost silent glide through the Arctic; the grinding of the runners in the snow and the occasional bark of joy from the dogs make this experience unique. In the late afternoon we are back in Longyearbyen.</p><p>Overnight stay in Longyearbyen</p><p class="textblock_smalltext">This tour is operated by a local partner.</p>

<p>Today, snow conditions permitting, we will take a snowmobile out of the settlement and experience the vastness of the Arctic; far away from civilization where the total darkness is broken only by moonlight and the glow of the starry sky. And that in the middle of the day!</p><p>After breakfast we will set off. We will be equipped with arctic thermal suits, boots, gloves and all other necessary equipment and after a detailed introduction into the handling of the snowmobile we will start. Depending on snow and weather conditions, we will drive far out into nature, climb a hill and marvel at the lights of Longyearbyen from a distance. If we are lucky, with northern lights in the sky above. After lunch and a hot drink in nature we will come back to Longyearbyen.</p><p>Overnight stay in Longyearbyen.</p>

<p>Farewell day. After an extensive breakfast, there will be some free time (depending on your flight schedule) in town. Then it is time to say goodbye. A private airport transfer will take you to your scheduled flight and on your way back home.</p>
