From ship to start, we take care of everything: the pickup takes place conveniently right at the harbour, so you can set off into your Arctic experience without any detours. Please note that we don't offer boat or dog-sledding tours — but we do offer a selection of tours with which you can discover Longyearbyen and its magnificent surroundings on land.
Depending on what you're in the mood for, three options are open to you. Our city tour takes you by minibus to the most striking spots in and around Longyearbyen — the northernmost town in the world — giving you plenty of insight into life on the edge of the Arctic: from the history of coal mining to everyday life under extreme conditions. Things become a little more varied with the combination of city tour and hike, which pairs the drive through town and surroundings with a walk out into the surrounding nature — ideal for experiencing both culture and landscape in a single day. And for those who want to dive straight into the wilderness, our hike is just the thing: on foot across the tundra and up to rewarding viewpoints with sweeping vistas over the fjord and mountains — always accompanied by an armed guide who ensures your safety.
You can easily book into existing tours. On request, private tours are also possible, which we shape entirely to your wishes — whether in terms of pace, focus, or duration. In particular, with smaller children (up to 6 years), booking a private tour is required, so that the excursion stays relaxed and suitable for everyone.
Whichever option you choose, we tailor every excursion precisely to the time available during your port call and always keep an eye on the schedule, so that you're back on board in good time and at ease — with unforgettable impressions of Svalbard to take with you.
For the shore excursions, you don't need any special equipment – what matters most is dressing appropriately for the Arctic weather. We recommend warm, weatherproof clothing in several layers, a windproof and waterproof outer layer, a hat, gloves, and sturdy, comfortable footwear. Since the weather on Svalbard can change quickly, an extra warm layer is always a good idea.
If you opt for a version that includes a hike, you should also bring sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots, as well as something to drink and a small snack.
Also remember your camera for the best views and sunglasses against the bright Arctic light. That way, you'll be well prepared for your excursion.
A private tour means full flexibility — in route, breaks, photo stops, and pace. Get in touch — we'd be happy to put together a personalized offer for you.
