Spitsbergen - Under the Midnight Sun

Welcome to Spitsbergen! We will pick you up at the airport and bring you to your accommodation in Longyearbyen. If arriving before 15:30, we will go on a guided tour of Longyearbyen on the same afternoon. Here we will get to know the northernmost settlement in the world and its surroundings in detail.

The area around Longyearbyen offers a variety of fantastic routes and peaks for hikes to suit all abilities. Depending on the group and your wishes, we will explore the wide valleys around Longyearbyen, look out for reindeer and foxes or, depending on the route, walk over a glacier and search for fossils. We will have lunch in the countryside with a wonderful view before setting off on our return journey.

Explore the beautiful tundra landscape of Adventdalen in a specially designed cart pulled by a team of dogs! You will greet the friendly animals and receive an introduction to the wagons and dogs. And off you go. On the roads you will cross the Adventdalen valley and explore the rich world of birds and reindeer. There will be stops along the way, with plenty of time for photos.

You will be equipped with an outer layer as well as gloves and boots. Hot drinks and cookies will be served.

Today we set off on our multi-day adventure: We take the boat out to the entrance of the Isfjord, where the wilderness hotel Isfjord Radio is located. Isfjord Radio is a former radio station that has been converted into a modern, comfortable and inviting hotel. In the afternoon we can go on a hike together or enjoy the sauna with a view of the sea.

We enjoy a marvellous dinner in great surroundings, for which local produce is sourced from one of the remaining trappers on the island and prepared by the chefs into fine dishes inspired by the Arctic region.

Isfjord Radio is a wilderness hotel, and due to the danger of polar bears it is only allowed to roam outside with a guide.

After an extensive breakfast we will start our hike today in the direction of Russekeila. On the way we take the opportunity to discover the beautiful and diverse flora and fauna of Svalbard. Lunch time is also at the old hut in Russekeila. The ideal place to experience the wonderful nature and endless vastness of Svalbard. We start the way back and will arrive back at the radio station Isfjord Radio in the afternoon.

Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Isfjord Radio

Now it's time to say goodbye to Isfjord Radio and we will be taken back to Longyearbyen by boat. Depending on the departure time of the boat, we can still do something around Isfjord Radio in the morning. During the boat trip, the mountains pass us by and we may spot some birds and, if we are lucky, whales.

Take a day off to unwind, wander around the city, buy some souvenirs, or have a relaxed coffee. If you want more action, there are additional activities available for booking. We're happy to advise you about the best possibilities and offers.

Farewell day. After an extensive breakfast, there will be some free time (depending on your flight schedule) in town. Then it is time to say goodbye. A private airport transfer will take you to your scheduled flight and on your way back home.
