    Pyramiden with the snowmobile

    March - May

Come with us on a snowmobile tour of the extra class. In the very north of the Isfjord, the Russian ghost settlement Pyramiden awaits us - slowly coming back to life. Whether it is the cinema, sports hall or accommodation... Little by little more and more buildings are being restored here and can be visited and used. This development gives us the opportunity to catch interesting glimpses of the former life of the mining settlement and to experience how it was to live in pyramids once upon a time.

The tour leads through the Advent Valley to a lonely trapper's hut in the middle of the wilderness. Continue across the sea ice of the frozen Tempelfjord to the Nordenskjöld Glacier. A spectacular glacier front awaits us before we enter Pyramiden via Adolf Bay. After sightseeing and lunch at the hotel, we will drive back to Longyearbyen.

Since Pyramiden is located far to the north of Isfjorden and is not always easily accessible depending on weather and ice conditions, it is recommended to visit Pyramiden in a two or three day tour. We will be happy to advise you personally.

    Day 1

    With the snowmobile to Pyramiden

In the morning we head out after breakfast. With light luggage for a multi-day tour, we set off - north towards Pyramiden. On the way we take our time, explore seldom traveled side valleys, climb mountains and enjoy the view. Depending on the sea ice conditions, we can take a shortcut via Tempelfjorden.

Arrival in the Russian ghost town is planned for early evening. In the town where once lived over 1000 people, 10 Russians are currently residing and running a small hotel. On a city tour with a Russian guide we will learn about the history of the place and get a chance to look inside interesting buildings such as the culture house, the refectory and the old swimming pool.

Dinner and overnight at Hotel Tulipan in Pyramids.

    Day 2

Over the fjords back to Longyearbyen
