Isfjord Radio at Kapp Linné with the snowmobile

    March - May

Visit the Norwegian radio station - Isfjord Radio - at beautiful Kapp-Linné on the west coast of Svalbard.

Built in the 1930s, Isfjord Radio transmitted weather data and other information about the archipelago to the mainland for decades. Today, the station is remote-controlled and the radio operators' accommodation has given way to the Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel - a very special kind of accommodation.

Come with us on a snowscooter ride to the beautiful west to the pointed mountains of the archipelago. The tour will take us through the snowy landscapes of the Grønfjords to the foot of the Grønfjord Glacier and finally to the Isfjord Radio Station, where we will spend the night.

On one of the two days we will also visit Barentsburg, a Russian-administered mining settlement with about 400 inhabitants - a journey back in time to the old Soviet Union!

    Day 1

    From Longyearbyen to Isfjord Radio

After breakfast it is time to set off. We tie up our equipment and all luggage for the multi-day tour on the snowmobiles and off we go.

We are on the road all day and get to know the breathtaking nature and impressive vastness of West Svalbard. The change in the landscape passing us between Longyearbyen and the west coast is unique. The spiky mountains typical of the archipelago are just as impressive as the huge glaciers that snake down from them. Lunch is served in the midst of Arctic nature. Then we continue until we reach the sea. Here lies the adventure hotel "Isfjord Radio" and thus our destination for the day.

We enjoy a wonderful dinner in great surroundings and spend the night in one of the cosiest hotels you can imagine in the wild nature of Svalbard.

    Day 2

    Via Barentsburg back to Longyearbyen
