May - November
When snow, low temperatures and pressure come together over thousands of years, snow turns into ice and glaciers are formed. The icy colossi may be melting, but they have lost none of their fascination. They run through the landscape of Svalbard like frozen rivers and finally pour into the Arctic Ocean. A glacier safari gives you the opportunity to see the blue ice of the ancient glaciers up close.
After being picked up from your accommodation, you will board the boat in Longyearbyen harbour and head out into the fjord. Passing the characteristic mountains of Svalbard, you head towards one of the island's many unique glaciers.
From the boat, you'll have a perfect view of the impressive glacier edge as it slowly breaks into the sea, piece by piece. Keep your camera or binoculars handy for this extraordinary safari!
This tour is conducted by one of our local partners in English. A small snack and hot drink is usually served on board.
