May - October
A fantastic day trip by boat - experience history, culture and the incomparable nature of Svalbard.
The boat trip takes us across the Isfjord to the southwestern Ymerbukta in Oscar II Land. There, with the most beautiful view of the glacier, a grilled lunch will be served. In the early afternoon we continue into Grønfjord and land at the Russian settlement of Barentsburg. We will be greeted by a Russian guide who will tell us in English about the past and present life, history and culture of the active mining settlement. It is also possible to explore the settlement on your own. If you are interested, you can try a glass of Russian vodka at the hotel or one of the northernmost beers in the world at the local brewery. After a good two hours on site, it's time to board the ship again and head back to Longyearbyen.
